About the Authors
  • The Personal Concord Reference Edition offers a good range of study aids in a manageable size. This Bible offers the additional benefit of a thumb index, making it easy to find the various Books. Produced in approximately the same format as an old Cambridge favourite, the Cameo Edition, this is actually the highly respected Concord Reference Bible reduced in size; smaller and lighter – yet just as useful a companion. This edition features red-letter text for the words of Christ. The text is compact yet clear, and the Bible has the same layout and pagination as others in the Concord 'family' – thorough cross-references, pronunciation marks, a glossary, concordance, dictionary and maps. Bound in real leather, it has a ribbon marker, presentation page and gold page edges.

    • thumb index to help find the place
    • real leather binding
    • same page numbers and layout as the Concord Reference Edition
    • range of study aids

This bible surprised me. It is actually better than I thought it would be, though I do have some troubles with mine. First, the leather covering is excellent in my view. I am glad it is not limp. It is a thick and nice quality leather that supports, which makes the bible easy to hold and read in positions like reclining and while in bed. Good. New, it has some stiffness, but mine is becoming noticeably looser after a few weeks of everyday use. I would expect it to lay fully flat while open after some more break-in time. Inside, the paper is good overall, though not like the finest India-type. It is quite easy to handle and in turning pages, seems to have a stiffer quality to it then some others. I like that the paper does not flop or fall down easily while holding the bible vertically. The index tabs are okay, though I would prefer them to be bigger, and/or possibly more tabs. Next time I would buy the non-indexed model. My biggest complaint is about the printing quality on mine. The OT is printed very good, nice and dark. BUT, most of the NT on mine has much lighter print, especially in the gospels. It is readable, but this is a disappointment. If it was consistently darkly printed as in the OT, this bible would be nearly perfect. Size and handling are great, in a very portable and readable format. Overall I like this bible very much. I would give it 5 stars easily if the print quality was consistently high.
